Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is MODX CMS?

A website is a critical communication channel in today's world of instant information access. As such, building a website represents a significant investment that should be carefully planned and executed. Good websites deliver huge ROI's for businesses. Poorly planned or poorly executed websites can cost a company time, money and sales. One major difference between a website with a CMS (Content Management System) and a simple static website is that owners have the ability to update their own website content.

We deliver all of our websites with MODX as the content management system, allowing our clients to update and evolve their website independently. The truth is, a good website is never finished. Websites grow and change along with the business or organization, and need to adapt to its owners needs quickly, with minimal investment. We give you proper training so you feel at ease using the system, and of course, if you want our help to webmaster your site, we're happy to lend a hand too.

Why MODX and not something else? That's and easy question - we made a decision very early on that we we're not going to be "Jack of all trades, master of none" and so we committed to MODX as our platform of choice. Since that decision, we've never looked back and have successfully launched over 100 sites ranging in scale, from 10 page sites all the way up 10,000 page sites.

We're now one of only 3 companies in the world who are MODX Premiere partners, supported also by over 50 other Agency and Professional partners.

  • What are mobile apps?

Usually, when people hear "mobile app" they assume you mean native app. This is a program that runs on a handheld device (phone, tablet, e-reader, iPod Touch, etc.) which has an operating system that supports standalone software and can connect to the internet via wifi or a wireless carrier network. Usually people download native mobile apps from app stores such as the Apple app store or the Android Market.

Unfortunately, a native app can only be "native" to one type of mobile operating system: iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Phone, WebOS, etc. This is why an iPhone app works only on iOS devices — so if you want to also make your app experience available to Android or Blackberry users, you'll need to develop and maintain a separate piece of software. That gets complicated and expensive.

In contrast, a mobile web app is software that uses technologies such as Javascript or HTML5 to provide interaction, navigation, or customization capabilities. These programs run within a mobile device's web browser. This means that they're delivered wholly on the fly, as needed, (without a laborious download procedure) via the internet.

Many people think they need an app when they might get better results from a mobile optimised website - get in touch with us if you think we can help.

  • What is e-commerce?

Ecommerce in a nutshell is any business that is done online. Electronic Commerce is the same as out in the physical world but it's over the internet through secure payment gateways like AsiaPay, PayPal & AliPay.

Ecommerce websites are much more complex that simple brochure style websites. Not only is security of great concern, complication arises from the need to integrate with POS (point of sales retail systems), inventory management systems and third party shipping providers.

We've launched many e-commerce sites in the past two years and know a thing or two about analytics, conversion rates and how to launch into China - get in touch with us if you think we can help.

  • MODX Premiere Partners - what does that mean?

Last year we were honored to pass the strict requirements to become one of only 3 MODX Premiere partners in the world.

As Premiere Partners, we have the support of the core MODX team along with over 50 other Agency and Professional Partners that make up the excellent MODX Solution Partner community.

  • What is a Content Management System?

A Content Management System (or CMS) allows you, the website owner, to update the contents of your website without needing to rely on any technical skills. Over time, this gives you the ability to keep your website content fresh, without having to pay fees or wait days for updates to be made.

If you have a website that constantly needs updating (as most good ones do) then you simply must have a content management system. Every site we build comes with a CMS, regardless of the size of the business or how many pages there are on the website. Before we launch a web site, we make sure you're comfortable using your CMS with training sessions and video tutorials for future reference.

There are many content management systems out there - famous open source ones such as wordpress, drupal, joomla that use 'Themes'. We don't like the concept of 'themes'; everything we do is custom, from the ground up and build exclusively for your brand. We could only find one content management system out there that never gets in the way of that - it's called MODX.

We're now one of only 3 companies in the world who are MODX Premiere partners, supported also by over 50 other Agency and Professional partners.

say hello.
